The New York University College of Dentistry is the third oldest and largest dental school in the United States. Integrated National Board Examination (INBDE) is a NYU College of Dentistry Web App built using ReactJS.

INBDE

Story

Previously, the National Board Dental Examination had Part 1, after 2 years of dental school, and Part 2 after 4 years, with testing of basic science knowledge concentrated in Part 1.

Recent modifications, however, have resulted in the implementation of a single integrated examination at the end of the 2 years.

Therefore, NYU Dentistry has had to reformulate its board preparation course and enable faculty to access the modified course contents, create quizzes, review student performance, and grade the content online, all on a single platform.

Our Process

Our app development team carried out the project and brought it to completion within the stipulated time frame. Our developers exhibited great dedication and teamwork to achieve the following outcomes:

  1. Design Strategy:

Our developers followed a user-centered design approach, focusing on usability, functionality, and aesthetics to ensure a seamless user experience for faculty members

  2. Visual User Interface:

Our team developed an intuitive and visually appealing interface that simplifies the faculty's use of the platform, making it easier for them to create and manage content

  3. Full Stack Development:

We used the ReactJS library to build the INBDE platform and Firebase for the backend infrastructure, ensuring a scalable and secure web app

  4. Quality Assurance and CI/CD:

Our team conducted rigorous quality assurance testing to ensure the platform's performance, reliability, and security. We also implemented a continuous integration and deployment process, enabling us to rapidly iterate and deploy new features.

Features

  • Faculty has a wide variety of resources at their disposal, which they can use to create questions and exams. Once approved by an administrator, these questions and exams can be viewed and used by other faculty members on the platform as well.

  • Faculty can associate a variety of ‘metadata’ with their created content, allowing them to easily search and filter for them, including ‘Question type’, ‘Level of difficulty’, ‘Area’, ‘Content Status’, and ‘Clinical Content’.

  • Faculty can easily create courses, quizzes, testlets to distribute to the students. Faculty can also collaborate on a single content and are able to see changes each other’s changes in real-time.

  • Faculty and Admin can generate multiple reports including content, exam, questions, teslets, exam, and prep course reports that will give them detailed insights

NYU Dental Hygiene

Keeping in line with our works on the INBDE platform, Walturn built another web app for NYU Dental Hygiene. With the adVANCE app, faculty can create, edit and collaborate on curating quizzes, teslets and course contents.

They can also distribute these quizzes and teslets to students from within the web app. Moreover, the adVANCE app allows the Dental Hygiene faculty and administration to use custom filters to generate reports, test results and much more.
